Great Father & Son Father’s Day Weekend ProjectThe last grill we had was a Char-Broil unit my wife and I received as a wedding gift in 2000. That unit served us well for over a decade. We abused it, didn’t cover it and let it sit out in the elements. So, 10+ years for a freebie was great.Fast forward to 2022 and the Mrs. has been bugging me for a new grill. So, I was dragging my feet and ended up ordering something from Amazon on Memorial Day weekend 2022. The big Charbroil box arrived a few days later and that was that. Into the garage it went, waiting for a time to put it together. Just so happened Father’s Day weekend was soonest we could get to assembling it.The box with grill inside is fairly heavy but that is to be expected. Unpacking the unassembled grill was daunting. I struggle to assemble small Lego kits, so this was definitely a little intimidating. Real card-carrying persons versed in tools and do-it-yourself skills won’t think twice. The only tool needed was a screwdriver. The instructions were illustrated well enough. With my son’s help it took us about 2 hours to assemble the grill. Why do they always put the assembly instructions in the back of the manual? I cannot operate it, clean it or use it until it is assembled.Notable assembly comments. The first step where you literally assemble the stand portion of the grill was a little tedious. Once we were able to get the 2 panels attached to each other and then to the legs, things went quicker but this first step was challenging to get pieces lined up and screws to go in straight. Also, one of the panels has the sticker with make and model info on it. The panels are symmetrical so as long as the correct sides are attached to each other and to the legs in the correct orientation, it does not matter if the panels are upside down. However, the aforementioned model sticker will be upside down if you do not make sure to have it oriented correctly when assembling the grill in step 1. The instructions do not mention the model number sticker. Only after getting this together, did we notice it was upside down. Not a big deal but it was a bit demoralizing. It was a bit of a slog getting through each step. We were definitely stumped at Step 11. There was this clip in the illustration that we could not figure out how to attach. It was for the burner shelf and the burner. I actually called Char-Broil on a Saturday and was delighted that a guy named Jamie actually took my call. He told me that the clip, identified in the manual as Part M, was called a Venturi clip. He emailed me a link to the official Char-Broil YouTube channel showing me how to properly install the Venturi clip. Once we were past Step 11, the other steps were simple and quick. Put the grates in and small final assembly steps.I went out and got a LP propane canister from the local big box hardware store. We made burgers, brauts, potatoes, and cabbage on the grill that night. This unit is basic and is about the same as the unit we received as a wedding gift. One thing I did not notice and is a minor drawback is there are no tool hooks or rack. The wedding gift unit had these amenities. That being said, the official Char-Broil Tool Hooks and spice rack is also sold by Amazon. I ordered that kit, and it was easy enough to put into the predrilled holes in one of the shelves on the grill. SO now I have 4 tool hooks and a spice rack. I may also order the official Char_Broil cup holder/bottle opener.I also ordered the official Char-Broil grill cover that Amazon suggested, so now I have a cover to hopefully extend the longevity of this unit.Overall, I am happy with this unit. It is definitely an entry level unit. Still, it made the Mrs. happy and now that we have done a few meals now on it, including some steaks, I am glad we got it.Lastly, the father son time I mentioned in the review title while assembling the grill is something I will always look back on fondly.

The heat is on!My wife and I have been married almost 30 years and this is our third grill. All have been CharBroil. The reason we had to purchase a new one was a wind storm caught our grill cover and knocked over the last CharBroil 2-burner we had destroying the lid hinges. We continued to use it but enough was enough, The old grill was retired after much searching, we found this grill on Amazon at a really great price. The stainless was a bonus as we had been looking at the traditional black and for the price we purchased this one. I have read reviews and articles that deem CharBroil as a lower end budget grill but as I can attest, at an average of 15 years per grill, they are also very durable. I will continue to buy CharBroil as long as they are sold. Now as to features, stainless steel with stainless burners and venturi tubes, tool free grease tray removal, nice wide porcelain grates, porcelain firebox, integrated lid thermometer, and separate side burner (which I do not use) that seems to be popular with grills, and opposite side prep tray. I was really surprised that an empty propane tank was not included as my last two grills had. I have the tank from the last grill for exchange so it’s ok.The only problem I have with this grill is the assembly. The instructions included a part numbering system but the actual parts had no numbers on them. I viewed each assembly step and matched up the parts from numerous boxes to match and was able to complete the task.

Love this grillEasy to put together, but better yet I found the sweet spots. Kabobs, burgers, ham, steaks. Been happy with how everything cooked on it.

Almost as good as my previous model, except….This Charbroil grill replaces another similar Charbroil grill that has lived out a six year existence in Los Angeles—so, used once or twice a week throughout most of the year. This grill was well-priced and was on sale in a year that has had few good bargains with the supply chain issues that have plagued every sector. Needing a new grill and with few other sale opportunities to choose from, I ordered it and it arrived as promised—the box a bit beat up and taped up….but, despite some apprehension, and photo documentation, all was fine.Thankfully, the grill went together flawlessly (as did the original) and was only slightly difficult when you are doing this yourself without the benefit of someone to help you hold legs upright while trying to screw things together—that was all flawless. Fully assembled, it also works without any issue, but my only reasoning for giving this grill 3 stars out of five is for the grease pan which captures any grease dripping down from the grill. This grease pan is one of last pieces to complete the assembly and itself, isn’t anything requiring any assembly. But, for reasons that escape me, the depth of the grease pan is only 18â€, when the depth of the grill is 24â€, so the back 6†is open to the ground (or deck, patio, etc.), allowing grease to drip unobstructed onto that surface. Probably not what people would want.I confirmed with the Charbroil representatives that this was the correct part for this grill—in case something was swapped out (and thus why the box I received might have been damaged—if one part was swapped out for another). But the dimensions of the grease pan are correct, but it is a total mystery why they designed a pan that is 25% shallower than common sense would dictate. The grill works well and I am using a length of aluminum foil to handle grease dripping on the rear 6†of the grill. Not great….but it works. The cast iron grill segments are lighter weight than the previous model, but still works well. I was supposed to hear back from the Charbroil folks within 24hrs after filing the online question/comment, following my conversation with the Customer Service. It has been 3 days now and have not received an official reply, beyond the automated response.

Cooks evenly but hard to cleanThe way the racks on this are designed makes it hard to scrape. They all bang around. But other than that it works great! The side burner is a cool feature, but we used it once and it took so incredibly long to boil water that we won’t use it for that again. Heating things up may work better.

Not my favoriteI bought this grill to replace a very similar grill I purchased before. The grill I purchased before was unavailable, and this one was suggested as an alternative. It looked very similar, BUT there are some differences I didn’t notice and those bummed me out.Grill purchased before:Char-Broil Performance 475 4-Burner Cart Liquid Propane Gas Grill- Stainless$248.95Grill purchased now and reviewing is this one:Char-Broil 463377319 Performance 4-Burner Cart Style Liquid Propane Gas Grill, Stainless Steel$366.60The look: I really preferred the black finish of the original grill. 100% stainless steel is not my favorite: even at assembly I noticed how stainless steel surfaces get messy from a SINGLE touch. They get scratched SUPER easy, so I’m anticipating that this new grill will not look nice at all when I start using it :(Prefer the coated black surfaces much better for usability.Price vs what you get: this grill was more expensive BUT has a cheaper design/fewer parts: it doesn’t have the bottom shelve for the gas tank. The gas tank sits on the side bar and being secured by a metal rod. This setup looks flimsy and cheap and the gas tank sticks out from the side instead of being nicely concealed by the front panel. Additionally this model is missing a guard that sits under the tray on top of the gas tank.I would have preferred to purchase the model I had previously and it’s a bummer that it became unavailable being substituted by this cheaply made model that cost more.Assembly was easy and I want to give kudos to the team who put together the manual as well as packaged everything in a very user-friendly way

Good BBQ but hard to assembleThis is a good BBQ for the price but it is VERY, VERY hard to assemble. The instructions are nearly useless. And assembly is definitely a two person job. Unless you are very young or a good mechanic and extremely agile pay to have it assembled before delivery.
